COLLEGE LIFE AT LICET - BEYOND BOOKS AND CLASS ROOMS

On August 4, 2025, I walked through the gates of Loyola-ICAM College of Engineering and Technology (LICET) for the very first time — a day filled with excitement, curiosity, and a little bit of nervousness. I had often heard about LICET’s discipline, Jesuit values, and strong academic environment, but experiencing it in person was something special

🌞 FIRST IMPRESSION
The moment I entered the campus, I was amazed by how green, peaceful, and welcoming everything felt. The pathways between Loyola College and LICET were buzzing with students, and yet there was a calm, positive energy all around.
The orientation session introduced us not just to academics but also to the values and vision of LICET — forming engineers who serve society with integrity.
That day, I realized LICET isn’t just about learning engineering; it’s about becoming a better person.

📝🧑‍🏫 ACADEMICS AND FACULTIES

I’m pursuing B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), and even in these first few weeks, I can already see how engaging and practical the teaching is. Our professors are friendly, approachable, and explain concepts clearly. They encourage us to ask questions, explore, and understand the “why” behind everything we learn.
It’s not just classroom learning — the labs, group tasks, and discussions make every subject come alive. I’m beginning to see how engineering connects to real-life situations, and that’s truly exciting.

⛪🏫 CAMPUS LIFE

LICET’s campus has a unique charm — the green surroundings, the peaceful chapel, and the cheerful canteen where we all gather during breaks. Meeting new friends, sharing ideas, and laughing😄 over lunch have already become some of my favorite moments.
Even though I’ve been here only a short time, I can already feel a sense of belonging. The seniors are kind and helpful, and the staff always treat us with respect and care.

🤝 CLUB ACTIVITIES
What excites me most is the number of clubs and student activities here! From technical clubs to cultural groups, there’s something for everyone. I’ve already decided to explore a few — maybe the Coding Club or the EEE Association, once I settle in.
LICET encourages students to grow beyond books — to learn leadership, teamwork, and creativity through real experiences. I’m looking forward to participating in upcoming events and college fests soon.
✨A memorable visit to Anna Centenary Library - A Day with knowledge and friendship.
One of the most unforgettable experiences I’ve had as a student at LICET (Loyola-ICAM College of Engineering and Technology) was our educational trip to the Anna Centenary Library, Chennai. It was more than just a visit — it was a day filled with learning, inspiration, and friendship.
It all began when our staff informed us that we would have a special session with an IIT professor at the Anna Centenary Library. The news itself created a buzz in our classroom — everyone was excited and curious.
       🌌Exploring planetarium
After the session, our staff took us to explore the planetarium nearby. It was such an exciting part of the day! The show inside the planetarium gave us a fascinating view of the universe — stars✨, planets🌏, galaxies🌌 — everything looked so real and beautiful on the big dome screen.
For a few moments, we all sat silently, completely amazed by the vastness of space. It reminded us how small we are compared to the endless universe, yet how powerful our minds can be when we dream big.
         📸 Capturing the moment

Of course, no college trip is complete without photos! We clicked a lot of pictures outside the library and near the planetarium — group selfies, candid shots, and fun poses.
Those photos are still special to me because every smile in them reflects the bond we shared as classmates. It wasn’t just about academics that day — it was about friendship, teamwork, and experiencing something new together.

🌟ENGINEA 2025 - THE CULTURAL PULSE OF LICET

The heart of every student year at LICET beats stronger during ENGINEA, our grand annual cultural fest! ✨
ENGINEA 2025 was a vibrant celebration of talent, creativity, and togetherness, bringing the entire LICET community under one roof. From electrifying dance performances and soulful music to fun technical games and artistic showcases, every event reflected the passion and spirit of LICETians.
The campus was filled with color, cheers, and energy as students from all departments came together — not as competitors, but as one big family. The cultural nights were unforgettable, with performances that showed not just skill, but emotion and teamwork.
ENGINEA reminds us that engineering isn’t only about machines and codes — it’s also about art, expression, and joy. It’s the time when LICET truly comes alive!

🏆🎖️MY GOALS AND HOPES
As a first-year student, I know I have a long journey ahead — new subjects, challenges, and opportunities. My goal is to make the most of everything LICET offers: learn deeply, stay disciplined, and become an engineer who makes a difference.
More than that, I want to grow as a person — to be confident, kind, and responsible, just like the seniors and professors who inspire me every day.

🌟FINAL THOUGHTS
It’s only the beginning, but LICET already feels like more than a college — it’s a community that cares, teaches, and inspires. I’m proud to have started my engineering journey here and can’t wait to see where the next four years will take me. And finally, after I come to LICET, I  understand the value of money 💵💰
